Theme: To Introduce Chinese Culture to Pittsburgh Neighborhood and Promote the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games—One World, One Dream!

 

2008 is the year of the 29th Olympic Games; 2008 is also the year of China! In order to promote Be= ijing Olympic Games and the splendid Chinese culture, Chinese Students & Scho= lars Association at University= of Pittsburgh (Pitt= -CSSA) is hosting a series of events under the name of Chinese Culture Exhibition = Month (CCEM). CCEM is not just to celebrate the traditional Spring Festival, but = also to broadcast the Chinese culture to the great Pittsburgh neighborhood. We join us in = the following events!

 

 

1.      Grand opening of CCEM: Olympic Exhibition and Tea House=

Time: Jan. 28th, 3-7pm

Location: William Pitt Union, Ball = room

 

To broadcast the theme of the Beiji= ng 2008 Olympic Games, we will guide you to the history of Olympic Games in China. We will display you Olympic posters, videos, and souvenirs. Chinese culture exhibition is also part of the main theme.

 

Games, prizes, snacks and drinks wi= ll be provided! You’ll have a chance to win the Olympic souvenirs!

 

2.      Spring Festival Stage Show and Tea House

Time: Feb. 3rd, 3pm-midnight

Location: William Pitt Union, Ball = room, Assembly room and Kurtzman room

 

This is our Pitt-CSSA traditional c= elebration of Spring Festival. The programs are as follow:

  1. Tea house: 3-6pm
  2. Dinner: 6-= 8pm (required registration)
  3. Stage show: 8-10pm
  4. Activities: 10pm-midnight

 

Notice: Dinner ticket must be regis= tered online in advance. Each student/staff ID is restricted to 2 tickets. Please= go to www.pittcssa.net.

We have games and prizes in tea hou= se, and lotteries in stage show.

 

3.      Kimble Gallery Olympic Exhibition

Time: Feb.4th – to= be confirmed (should be 1 to 2 weeks)

Location: William Pitt Union, Kimble Gallery

 

If you have interests in our Olympic exhibition, you may experience again in the Kimble Gallery in this period of time!

 

4.&n= bsp;     Weekly Chinese Movie Show.

Time: Jan.23rd – F= eb. 29th every Wednesday and Friday

7-9 pm: Chinese movies with English subti= tles

9-11 pm: Chinese movies without English su= btitles

Location: Engineering Auditorium

 

We will play the famous Chinese mov= ies for the Pittsburgh neighborhood. Most of the movies have been awarded in China or in the world. Half o= f the movies have English subtitles. Please go to our website www.pittcssa.net for the movie schedu= le.

 

5.      Karaoke Event

Time: Feb. 9th 7-11pm

Location: William Pitt Union, Dinning Room A

 

Karaoke is very popular in China. The Karaoke Club in CSSA was established four years ago and the events held= by Karaoke Club are very popular among not just Chinese students and scholars,= but also students from all other countries on campus. Please come and sing with= us!

 

6.&n= bsp;     Ball Night

Time: Feb. 17th 7-11pm

Location: William Pitt Union, Assem= bly room

 

Traditionally, social dance is more= popular in western countries than in China. Nowadays, more and more Chinese are joining this activity for doing physical exercise and making friends. We invited teachers from the members of CSSA a= nd our “students” in the Ball Night had great fun together! Please come and join us!
